DARTH MAUL COMIC - Created BEFORE Hasbro's version | ||
Parts: Darth Maul figure and lightsaber POTF2 Lando Calrissian figure Sculpey
|
Darth Maul as he appears
in the new Dark Horse comic. He was made from a May 3rd version of Maul,
with his torso and arms removed. In their place is "Disco Lando" chest
and arms. (1995 buff version of Lando).
This was my first attempt at swapping parts. After pulling apart the two figures, some adjustments inside were required to get a good fit at the waist peg. Also, the old Lando arms required carving down to look more like bare arms instead of a puffy shirt. His collar was also smoothed down, and the hole in his back where his cape was attached was filled in with sculpey. Sculpey was also used to fill in the seams after glueing Maul back together again. I began repainting him by covering his entire chest and arms in red. Then I painted on the black (because I wasn't sure if the red would show up well on top of black). I also repainted his face, to match the red tone of his body (his face was more of a pinkish hue). I also gave him more details around his horns. I left the painted areas shiny on purpose....making him look sweaty just after a dueling practice..... I was pleased with this short project (it took just a few hours), as he still retains articulation in the neck, arms and waist. |
