QUEEN AMIDALA - Created BEFORE Hasbro's version

BACK

 This is Queen Amidala, the teen monarch from the planet Naboo. She was made from an Endor Leia, and a lot of sculpey. First, Leia's hair and skirt was removed, and sculpey added to fill in the flowing robes, coat, and the back of her head. Next, I needed to learn a new skill; that of braiding eight strands to make the braid around her coat. This was covered in glue, left to dry and then cut to size and glued onto the figure, once the sculpey had been cured. 

This figure required much more work than any of my previous works. I also attempted to include more texturing in the coat (made with a wooden stick, broken in half and "dipped" into the sculpey with the ragged end for the bottom of the coat, "twisted" into the sculpey for the designs on the top part of the coat), the hair, and the pleats in her robes (done with an exacto knife). More thread was used for her headpiece and chest decoration. The "hair" portion of the headpiece was made separately and glued into place after being painted a base coat. Detailed painting was then completed, and the final red "tubes" were glued into place as well. 

I don't know how she can walk into Coruscant in this getup!
